Powerful Repentance

God is doing amazing things throughout Colorado to draw people to Himself in repentance.   Thre are two major events that took place this year that are worthy to note and for which we should intentionally give thanks to God.

First, In June of this year (2014), the United Methodist Church (UMC) sent 13 busloads of believers to Eads, CO to formerly repent to the Arapahoe and Cheyenne peoples on behalf of fthe Methodist church for the Sand Creek Massacre that took place in 1864. Colonel Chivington and Governor Evans were both Methodist pastors and were the ones who gave the orders to attack the peaceful village at Sand Creek.  The June event was a powerful time of repentance and forgiveness that has facllitated greater spiritual freedom for Colorado.

Then, on December 3, 2014 Governor Hickenlooper stood on the west steps of the capitol building in front of representatives of the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes and issued a formal apology to the tribes on behalf of the government for the Sand Creek Massacre.  This was a second act of repentance that has done much to bring healing to the land of Colorado.

Please join with us in thanking God for these two amazing, powerful acts of repentance that are moving Coloradans closer to fulfilling 2 Chronicles 7:14  If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
