“I use God’s mighty weapons, not those made by men, to knock down the devil’s strong holds. These weapons can break down every proud argument against finding Him. With these weapons I can capture rebels and bring them back to God and change them into men whose heart’s desire is obedience to Christ.”            (2 Corinthians 10:4,5 TLB)

Although some couples think prayer is only needed in times of distress, prayer is vital to a couple in their daily life. We need constant communication with our heavenly Father to have an open relationship with our spouse and family. In Him we breathe and have our being. We have seen the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives as we keep the lines of communication with the heavenly Father open. This means daily prayer together as a couple. In order for us to know how to have abundance in our everyday living we must put prayer first. It’s not a religious act but a vital need. We need to rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit for the smallest details of our relationship and existence.

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything by prayer and petition definite requests with thanksgiving continue to make your wants known to God.”      (Philippians 4:6)

We can have confidence in every decision and relationship through prayer confidence and peace. Prayer brings our hearts together and makes us stronger as a one-flesh couple. Prayer is “in-to-me-see”. It allows us to grow and have a strong foundation.

If you are not praying together as a couple today is a good day to start. Consistency is the key which takes us to obedience, discipline then to delight. Even three minutes a day will change your perspective and you will see that three minutes will turn into four and then five and soon you will be lost in the presence of the Lord. Prayer will be part of your daily life.  “can two walk together unless they be agreed”    Amos 3:3
